RULES

OF THE INTERNATIONAL VICTORY СUP OF THE ARMY, DEVOTED TO THE VICTORY IN THE GREAT PATRIOTIC WAR

Individual and Team Races.

1. Goals and Objectives.
- Discover the strongest athletes and teams among the military personnel.
- Improve general sportsmanship and overall sporting skills among the military personnel.

2. Dates and Event Location.
The event is held from May, 2nd till May, 8th, 2017 within the IX. International Festival Red Fox Elbrus Race. Event location is Mt. Elbrus in Russia, Kabardino-Balkaria.

3. Organization Commitee.
- Overall management and supervision of the event is held by the Organization Committee of the Festival.
- Immediate governance is entrusted to Race Director Evgeny Kolchanov (e-mail: ekolchanov@mail.ru).
- The Organization Committee of the Festival is appointed by Red Fox together with representatives of governmental organizations participating in the competitions.
- Chief Judge: Alexander Ovchinnikov.
- Safety Officer: Alexander Poluektov.

Immediate carrying out of the competitions is entrusted to the Main Panel of Judges.

4. Requirements for participants and admittance to the competitions.
Eligible to enter the competitions are the National Teams of the Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation, the Troops of the National Guard of the Russian Federation and of other Security Ministries, as well as military personnel of other countries. A team squad may consist of 4 men, 2 women + 1 trainer + 1 representative. The quantity of teams participating in the competions is unlimited. The teams of one ministry can have no more than 1 trainer and 1 representative. Teams without full squad will be admitted to the competitions. During registration, teams have to announce as mini-teams of two participants who cannot be changed during all competitions. All competitions are held according the Russian “Rules for skyrunning and ski-mountaineering competitions”.

5. List of Mandatory Equipment
The following equipment may be used during the different race courses. The final decision on equipment for each race will be announced during the briefings.
- Skis (metal edging not less than 80% of ski length), ski length for men - not less 160 cm, ski length for women - not less 150 cm);
- Boots with "Vibram" type outersole;
- Boots or running shoes;
- Climbing skins;
- Ski-touring bindings (factory made);
- A pair of ski or trekking poles;
- Rescue foil;
- Avalanche shovel;
- Avalanche probe;
- Avalanche transceiver;
- Backpack (volume not less 20 l);
- Sun glasses or goggles;
- Helmet;
- 4 clothing layers for the upper body (including one storm layer);
- 3 clothing layers for the lower body (including one storm layer);
- Gloves;
- Harness (UIAA approved);
- 2 self-belaying slings;
- 3 carabiners;
- Crampons;
- Headlight.

11:00-19:00 - Registration of participants of the ski-mountaineering races. Azau Glade, Hotel Vershina.
19:00 - Briefing of the ski-mountaineering individual race. Azau Glade, Hotel Vershina.

May, 1st
09:00 - Ski-mountaineering individual race. Victory Сup. Elbrus Open Ski-Mountaineering Cup.
15:00 - Inauguration of the Festival. Awards ceremony of the winners of the ski-mountaineering individual race. Azau Glade, Hotel Vershina.

May, 2nd
19:00 - Briefing of the ski-mountaineering team race. Azau Glade, Hotel Vershina.

May, 3th
09:00 - Ski-mountaineering team race. Stage of the Russian Ski-Mountaineering Cup. Victory Сup. Elbrus Open Ski-Mountaineering Cup.

May, 4th
11:00-19:00 - Registration of participants. Azau Glade, Hotel Vershina.
19:00 - Briefing of the Vertical Kilometer® - Mt. Elbrus, 2450-3450 m. Azau Glade, Hotel Vershina.

May, 5th
09:00 - Start of the Vertical Kilometer® - Mt. Elbrus, 2450-3450 m. Russian Skyrunner Championship. Victory Сup. Azau Glade (2450 m) - "Mir" Station (3450 m).
14:00 - Awards ceremony for the winners of the Vertical Kilometer® - Mt. Elbrus. Azau Glade, Hotel Vershina.

May, 6th
Participants of the high-speed race Skyrace® ("Classic" class) and the judges ascend to the "Barrels" (Garabashi).
19:00 - Briefing of the SkyMarathon® - Mt. Elbrus (2350-5642 m), "Sport" class: Azau Glade, Hotel "Vershina". Briefing of the Skyrace® - Mt. Elbrus (3780-5642 m), "Classic" class: "Barrels".

May, 7th
06:30 - Start of the SkyMarathon® - Mt. Elbrus, 2350-5642 m, "Sport" class. Azau Glade. 1st stage of the Russian Skyrunner Cup. Victory Сup.
07:00 - Start of the Skyrace® - Mt. Elbrus, 3780-5642 m, "Classic" class. "Barrels". Kabardino-Balkarian Open Skyrunner Championship.
20:00 - Briefing of the Red Fox TSL Challenge (snowshoe race). Azau Glade, Hotel Vershina.

May, 8th
11:00 - Red Fox TSL Challenge (snowshoe race).
15:00 - Awards ceremony for the winners of the SkyMarathon® - Mt. Elbrus, the Skyrace® - Mt. Elbrus and the snowshoe race. Closing ceremony of the Festival. Azau Glade, Hotel Vershina.

7. Determination of the Winners
The participants' results in individual and team races are determined by the total sum of route passing time and sum of penalties on the different stages of the route. The route passing time of a team is determined by the result of the team athlete who last passes the finish line.

The total score of a team is determined by the ranking points of the best of the mini-teams of 2 persons, taking into consideration the sum of points scored in all races. The overall team rating is scored according to the sum of ranking points of each participant (team’s athlete) in each race. The team which scored the highest number of ranking points will be determined as the winner.

The total sum of ranking points, depending of each athlete's plosition, is determined by the following table.

The Main Panel of Judges is obliged to provide insight into the contest protocol to the teams' representatives latest until May, 9th, 2017.

8. Awards
Winners are awarded with official race diplomas, prize money and additional prizes given by the organizers and sponsors.

9. Financing
The costs for preparation, organization and carrying out of the competitions are at the expense of local governmental budget and extrabudgetary resources of other participating organizations. Costs of assignment (travel costs, meals, accommodation) and insurance of the participants are at the expense of the respective assigned organizations.

10. Applications
Please send you preliminary applications by e-mail to elbrus@redfox.ru. Indication of athletes' last name, age, class of the competition and qualification are obligatory.

Entrance fee - 1000 roubles per person for each race.

Preliminary applications with obligatory confirmation are accepted until April 9th, 2017. Applications have to be presented with classification card (if present) to the credentials committee.

The Main Panel of Judges reserves the right to change the competitions schedule!

Sportsmen who have read this regulation are eligible to take part in the competions.
