1. Goals and Objectives
1.1. Further development and promotion of an active and healthy lifestyle, mountaineering, skyrunning and ski-mountaineering in Russia.
1.2. Improve general sportsmanship within the extreme race community and the overall sporting skills of the participants.
1.3. Discover the strongest athletes.

2. Dates and Event Venue
Event dates: May 1st - 8th, 2017. Event location: Mt. Elbrus (5642 m), a dormant volcano. The highest peak of Russia and Europe, located 12 km to the North of the Main Caucasian Ridge. It provides an original and unique stage for this event as the slopes at above 3000 m are covered with glaciers and the typical cone-shaped volcanic terrain make it ideal for an extreme race event.

3. Organization Committee
3.1. All competitions are held according to the "Unified Calendar for Russian inter-regional and international sport events" of the Ministry of Sports of the Russian Federation.
3.2. Overall management and supervision of the event is held by the Organization Committee of the Festival. Immediate governance is entrusted to the Race Director.
3.3. The Organization Committee of the Festival is appointed by Red Fox.

The Organization Сommittee of the Festival consists, upon mutual agreement, of authorized representatives from the following third party partners; Ministry of Sports of the Russian Federation, Government of the Republic of Kabardino-Balkaria, Ministry of Sports of the Republic of Kabardino-Balkaria, ISF, the Russian Mountaineering Federation, the Mountaineering Federation of the Republic of Kabardino-Balkaria and the Municipal Elbrus District Council as well as the Race Director and representatives of other interested parties and organizations.

3.4. The panel of judges, with the chief judge as it's chairman, are responsible for each individual race category and the respective judging results. The chief judge will select the panel of judges upon final agreement with the Organisation Committee.

4. Participants and Race Regulations
The competitions are carried out in four disciplines:

1. Vertical Kilometer.
Vertical Kilometer® - Mt. Elbrus, 2450-3450 m;
Russian Skyrunner Championship.
Route follows from Azau Glade to "Mir" Station.

2. High-speed race to Mt. Elbrus West Summit in 2 classes: "Sport" (professional class); "Classic" (non-professional class).
«Sport»: SkyMarathon® - Mt. Elbrus, 2350-5642 m;
1st stage of the Russian Skyrunner Cup.
Route: Azau Glade (2350 m) - "Mir" Station (3450 m) - «Barrels» (3780 m) - Pastukhov Rocks (4800 m) - Saddle (5350 m) - Mt. Elbrus West Summit (5642 m).

«Classic»: Skyrace® - Mt. Elbrus, 3780-5642 m;
Kabardino-Balkarian Open Skyrunner Championship.
Route: «Barrels» (3780 m) - Pastukhov Rocks (4800 m) - Saddle (5350 m) - Mt. Elbrus West Summit (5642 m).

3. International Victory Сup of the Army:
Ski-mountaineering/ Individual Race; Ski-mountaineering/ Team Race; Skyrunning - Vertical Kilometer® - Mt. Elbrus, 2450 m - 3450 m; Skyrunning - SkyMarathon® - Mt. Elbrus, 2350 m - 5642 m.


4. Elbrus Open Ski-Mountaineering Cup: Individual and Team Races. Men; Women.

5. Snowshoe Race Red Fox TSL Challenge.
Route follows from "Krugozor" Station to "Mir" Station (3000-3450 m).


Only participants with mountaineering experience on snow and ice are eligible to enter the Vertical Kilometer®. Participation in the Vertical Kilometer® is obligatory for competitors of the SkyMarathon® - Mt. Elbrus and the Skyrace® - Mt. Elbrus.

Only participants with mountaineering experience on snow and ice are eligible to enter the SkyMarathon® and the Skyrace®.

Winning time is determined from the start gate to the summit gate. Participants must reach the summit gate without assistance and descend to the start gate by 16:00. If a participant receives assistance when reaching the summit gate, or reaches the start gate later than 16.00 the result will be considered nun and void. The control check point on the saddle must be passed by 12:00. If the control time is exceeded the participant will be disqualified. It is strictly prohibited to use any transport, skis and/or assistance for participants during the race. In case of disqualification, participants may take use of any transport or other assistance for descent.

There are no restrictions for admission of participants to the snowshoe race.

Ski-mountaineering competitions are open for all sports athletes with mountaineering experience or experience in ski and mountain ascents. Men’s and women’s offsets are held in one competition.

The use of doping medications is strictly prohibited. Sports athletes will be disqualified for breaking this rule!

All participants must have medical clearance, medical insurance and accident insurance.

Attention! Sports athletes without official medical clearance and insurance will not be eligible for the competitions!

19:00 - Briefing of the ski-mountaineering individual race. Azau Glade, Hotel Vershina.

May, 1st
09:00 - Ski-mountaineering individual race. Victory Сup. Elbrus Open Ski-Mountaineering Cup.
15:00 - Inauguration of the Festival. Awards ceremony of the winners of the ski-mountaineering individual race. Azau Glade, Hotel Vershina.

May, 2nd
19:00 - Briefing of the ski-mountaineering team race. Azau Glade, Hotel Vershina.

May, 3th
09:00 - Ski-mountaineering team race. Stage of the Russian Ski-Mountaineering Cup. Victory Сup. Elbrus Open Ski-Mountaineering Cup.

May, 4th
11:00-19:00 - Registration of participants. Azau Glade, Hotel Vershina.
19:00 - Briefing of the Vertical Kilometer® - Mt. Elbrus, 2450-3450 m. Azau Glade, Hotel Vershina.

May, 5th
09:00 - Start of the Vertical Kilometer® - Mt. Elbrus, 2450-3450 m. Russian Skyrunner Championship. Victory Сup.
Azau Glade (2450 m) - "Mir" Station (3450 m).
14:00 - Awards ceremony for the winners of the Vertical Kilometer® - Mt. Elbrus. Azau Glade, Hotel Vershina.

May, 6th
Participants of the high-speed race of the "Classic" class and the judges ascend to the "Barrels" (Garabashi).
19:00 - Briefing of the SkyMarathon® - Mt. Elbrus (2350-5642 m). "Sport" class: Azau Glade, Hotel Vershina. "Classic" class: "Barrels".

May, 7th
06:30 - Start of the SkyMarathon® - Mt. Elbrus, 2350-5642 m, "Sport" class. Azau Glade. 1st stage of the Russian Skyrunner Cup. Victory Сup.
07:00 - Start of the Skyrace® - Mt. Elbrus, 3780-5642 m, "Classic" class. "Barrels". Kabardino-Balkarian Open Skyrunner Championship.
20:00 - Briefing of the Red Fox TSL Challenge (snowshoe race). Azau Glade, Hotel Vershina.

May, 8th
11:00 - Red Fox TSL Challenge (snowshoe race).
15:00 - Awards ceremony for the winners of the SkyMarathon® - Mt. Elbrus, the Skyrace® - Mt. Elbrus and the snowshoe race. Closing ceremony of the Festival. Azau Glade, Hotel Vershina.

The decision about the start of the SkyMarathon® - Mt. Elbrus and the Skyrace® - Mt. Elbrus will be carried out at 6:00 a.m. on May, 7th according to weather conditions.

6. Judging Criteria
Winners are determined by the best time on the routes.

7. Awards/Prizes
Winners are awarded with official race diplomas, prize money and additional prizes from organizers and sponsors.

8. Applications
On-line registration will be available at www.elbrus.redfox.ru from December, 1st, 2016 until April 16th, 2017. Preliminary applications are accepted with obligatory electronic payment and confirmation.
It is also possible to make an application on-site at the venue however the organisers cannot guarantee the availability of event packs and other special services such as food, accommodation, transfer, etc.

9. Participant Waiver and Safety Regulations
- All competitions are held according to the approved regulations.
- Each participant has to be aware of the risks related to climbing Mt. Elbrus, Vertical Kilometer and ski-mountaineering competitions.
- Each participant is responsible for his/her own health and safety. The organizers provide first-aid in an emergency situation.
- Race organizers examine route and install safety devices (e.g., fix ropes), if necessary.
- A participant's appearance at the start gate implies sufficient physical health and mountaineering skills for taking part in the competition.
- Each participant should take into consideration real weather and route conditions.
- Each participant's equipment has to meet the safety requirements and race rules.
- The Organization Committee reserves the right to cancel or change competitions schedule according to weather or other conditions.

Sportsmen who have read this regulation are eligible to take part in the competions.
