HISTORY

2009 - The Red Fox Elbrus Race Festival and its main event – the high-speed race to the top of Mt. Elbrus – were enlisted in the calendar of the ISF (Recognized International Races).

2012 – The high-speed race to the top of Mt. Elbrus was included into the calendar of the Skyrunner® World Series and SkyRace® Series under its new name Elbrus Vertical SkyRace®.

2018 - The course of the SkyMarathon® - Mt Elbrus (2350-5642 m) was certified by the International Trail-Running Association (ITRA) and, due to its difficulty, received 45 ITRA points, the maximum rating ever given!

Since 2018 the SkyMarathon® - Mt Elbrus (2350-5642 m) is certified by the ISF (International Skyrunning Federation) and included into their official race calendar.

2019 - The SkyMarathon® - Mt. Elbrus is included into the new series of competions Sky Summit Trophy. The main idea of the Sky Summit Trophy is to find out who are the leaders in sky races at an altitude above 4000 m.

SPEED RECORD AT THE 2017 RED FOX ELBRUS RACE:
Best result of the SkyMarathon® - Mt. Elbrus, 2350-5642 m - 3 hours 24 min 14 sec!
Karl also set a new world record for the route to the summit and back (Glade Azau 2350 m-Elbrus West Summit 5642 m -Glade Azau 2350 m) - 4 hours 20 min 45 sec!

ANNA OGLOBLINA (RED FOX ASIA Team)

SPEED RECORD AT THE 2019 RED FOX ELBRUS RACE:
The record of the SkyMarathon® - Mt. Elbrus, 2350-5642 m amoung women is held by Anna Ogloblina (Red Fox Asia Team) from Kirgistan - 4 h 17 min 33 sec.

Anna Ogloblina also holds the record for the route to the summit and back (Glade Azau 2350 m-Elbrus West Summit 5642 m -Glade Azau 2350 m) - 5 hours 35 min 3 sec!

LIST OF MANDATORY EQUIPMENT:

1. Boots or running shoes (for restrictions, see below)
2. Crampons (The use of running shoes with spikes (not less than 1,5 cm) or the combination of running shoes with crampons is allowed. In the second case running shoes must be permanently equipped with spikes at the heel area.)
3. Harness with two self-belaying slings and carabiners
4. Sun glasses or goggles
5. 3 clothing layers (including one storm layer)
6. Trekking poles
7. Sunblock cream
8. Balaclava
9. Gloves with overmittens

1 - Due to bad weather conditions the route was changed to the following: route up to Pastukhov Rocks (4 800 m); finish line at «Mir» station (3 450 m).

2 - Due to bad weather conditions the route of the high-speed race was changed to the following: Azau Glade (2350 m) - "Mir"-Station (3450 m) - "Barrels" (3780 m) - Pastukhov Rocks (4800 m) - Check Point at 5350 m - Pastukhov Rocks - "Barrels" (3780 m); finish line at "Barrels".

3 - Due to conditions of slopes and safety of the participants, the distance was changed. The race passes not as usual to the Western peak of Elbrus, but to the 4725 m, followed by descent and finish on the "Barrels" (3780 m).
