Today, on May 1st, the festival of winter extreme sports, the 2017 Red Fox Elbrus Race officially began for the ninth time! More than 350 athletes from Russia, Austria, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Ecuador, France, Germany, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Macedonia, Mongolia, Spain, Turkmenistan and Ukraine are spending the first beautiful days of May on the snow covered Mt. Elbrus in the Caucasus mountains challenging themselves in various alpine competitions.
Directors of Red Fox, Alexander Glushkovsky and Vlad Moroz, and representatives of the government of Kabardino-Balkaria welcomed participants on the Opening ceremony.
The results are in for the first competition! Ski-mountaineering individual race was held today with three prizes at stake: the 4th stage of the Russian Cup, the Elbrus Open Ski-Mountaineering Cup and Victory Cup.
28 athletes registered for the race.

Men
1st place – Eugene Markov (Russia) – 01:42:50;
2nd place – Nikolay Shorokhov (Russia) – 01:48:42;
3rd place – Vitaly Shkel (Russia) – 01:48:57.
Bulgarian athlete became the best among women in the Elbrus Open Ski-Mountaineering Cup.
1st place – Ivona Mikhailova (Bulgaria) – 02:14:54;
2nd place – Svetlana Berezan (Russia) – 02:16:34;
3rd place – Nina Ermakova (Russia) – 03:16:43.
The next breathtaking competition will be the Vertical Kilometer® - Mt Elbrus, 2450-3450 m, to be held on May, 5! Follow the news!
