Opening ceremony of the festival of extreme sports Red Fox Elbrus Race 2014 took place today in Prielbrusye. It begun from rewarding of winners of the first starts. For the first time in the history of Festival the ski-mountaineering competition are in three disciplines - vertical race, individual race, team race.

Traditional ski-mountaineering race on the Victory Cup among the military personnel took place in a team competition.The vertical race was as offset of the final of Russian ski-mountaineering Cup.

In final starts of ski-mountaineering season the debutants in this sport caused a stir. The leaders of the skyrunning national team Vitaly Shkel and Nadezhda Korolyatina took the prizes. Arrival of stars of female ski-mountaineering from Kamchatka Larisa Soboleva and Ekaterina Osichkina's didn't raise doubts that they will appear on a podium.

Tomorrow the individual ski-mountaineering race will take place. And on 6th May there will be the main starts of the Festival - Vertical kilometer and High-speed run to the West Elbrus Peak. While more than 350 people from 17 countries are according to preliminary data registered - for Red Fox Elbrus Race began already habitual to break every year records by number of participants.
